l 10G-GPON deployment is worldwide: global GPON accounted for 80% of total PON shipment and GPON will upgrade to 10G GPON in future; EPON and 10G EPON only deployed in several local markets
l 10G-GPON provides higher power budget to achieve longer distance；asymmetric 10G GPON uplink and downlink rate is 1: 4, more suitable for residential service bearing, while asymmetrical 10G EPON is 1: 10
l 10G-EPON upgrade is easier, it is backward compatible with EPON, ODN without change; 10G-GPON need to add WDM1r and lead to ODN change
